Anyone else feeling not so mighty???

I was out running some erands for the office a moment ago and noticed the gas price will prolly be over $4 a gallon here in K town by monday mornin.

It just got me to thinkin, you know, we aren't what we used to be...People used to fear america, and in the same thought, aspire to be like us, or one of us...But just the other day I was watching the NBA draft and as each Euro player was selected the anouncers said "If he comes here he will be taking a pay cut because the dollar is not worth near as much as the currency he is making now"...I was floored, as I was making myself come to believe, we aren't #1 anymore, we aren't even really close...Truth is we are closing in on being at least a 2nd world country and don't even know it...

We are in a severe recession, and aimed straight for a depression by ignoring tons of issues that put us on top...See if you follow me on any of these...

1) Long term energy policy...If you think I'm gettin ready to bash Bush you are correct, but I'm gonna include some others like his dad, and Mr Clinton....The major issue here is that all three of these clowns knew this was comming, while the Bush's ties to world wealth and Big Oil are no secret, neither are Clinton's ties to US wealth, and the Rockafellers...Truth is the crissis we are in now needed to be dealt with in the 90's, as it is mearly to late now...We have oil leaving Alaska today for China, why is that???

So here is where we sit at the moment...No alternative energy plan, everyone will have to be almost totally on gasoline the next 7-10 years, which will exceed $10 a gallon in the next 2 years, because honestly america's need for gas really isn't that important to the rest of the world who for the most part doesn't care how we're doing....

Stock Market, Investing- Grab yourself a trading magazine, look at the world markets top 100 mover last year, If I'm not mistakin the USA had less than 5 in there...WOW!!!!

One question, how are we gonna make a comeback??? There is no market in the US, all of our goods have slowly moved overseas to be produced, because of laxed tarrifs by the last umpteen presidents, both Bush's included, Clinton included, Regan included, you name it, back to about Roosavelt...That is catching up to us...A tarriff was created long before america to make it cheaper to buy a domestic product than a foriegn one...OK, why is it cheaper to buy a Hyundai than a Ford Focus??? How can our market win when we have it arranged for the foriegn market to win???

Bush I

esert Storm, left business unfinished, although possibly left it just the way it should have been to start with...none the less, alot of dads and moms never saw their sons and daughters again because we had our nose stuck in helping some pesky little country, who damn sure wouldn't have helped us...
PimpClinton: For the first time since JFK and Cuba, we showed that would could be simply scared away by the possabillities of bad press...Bill simply saw it ok as an american to forget the #1 creed of an american soldier "NO MAN LEFT BEHIND" and leave men who were captured following his orders, in order to keep from looking bad in the press...Luckily for those guys, some soldiers disobeyed...But in the end, showed a hollywood side of the US, who won't fight if it may put off a bad image, opened the door for anyone brave enough to attack us...
Bush II

o we really even need to talk about it???Does anyone even have a clue what the goal is in Iraq at this point???I have a brother who will be over there in a month or two, for what???What will his kids and grandkids gain by him risking it all over there???

Push for Universal Healthcare-It is no secret by now Universal Healthcare is comming...But at what expense????Doctors salaries would have to be reduced by giant amounts in order for the service to be affordable...Well we just discussed above that American currency is no longer near the top anymore...What do you think will happen to our doctors and surgiens when we start slicing salaries???Then what skill level doctor do you think you will be seeing when you go in??? After your wait on the list???So that will only leave one option for the doctors who wish to make good money and stay in the US, Open their own clinics and surgery wards...Can't tell them NO, this is a free market, thats why we can't limmit the oil proffits, it's a free market, as long as people wish to pay it, the government can't slow it down...So in turn for universal healthcare, we once again find a way to make the rich richer, and the poor poorer, or maybe even sicker...

My main question is, where are we gonna work in 20 years at this rate???

my understanding from a friend who works in the mines in clintwood is we don't have 20 years of coal left in southwest virginia

It makes sense, look at some things from 20 years ago that are a thing of the past....Coal will join the list soon enough...

I don't think everyone in the country will fit in the mines anyhow...

there are a ton of employers way bigger than the mines shutting doors in the US over the next 5 years....

When Westmoreland brought in the longwall in the 80's, their goal was to get out of SWVA quickly as possible. In the 90's they swore all the coal that could be got was gone....and mining operations have popped up all over the same places Westmoreland mined, and they still make their profit mining those areas. You can't really go on what coal operators say when speculating how much coal is left here.
